A Clean Weekend

Hi Lovelies,

Hope you all had a great weekend! I find they go by so fast sometimes. I had a lovely weekend filled with friends.  On Friday night I had all my best girlfriends over for a girls night with lots of wine and cocktails!

In the spirit of being healthier this year I have decided to start eating clean. It is basically the practice of eating whole, natural foods such as fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and complex carbohydrates. While staying away from processed and refined foods such as white flour, sugar, bread and pasta. As well anything high in saturated and trans fats.

Obviously I can't just decided  to switch my food choices all in one day so my goal is to have at least one clean meal a day with two clean snacks, or two clean meals a day.  This is not about losing weight, it is about being more aware of what I am eating and feeling better overall. I have no intention of completely cutting out some of my favorite unhealthy foods at the moment but I am going to try and cut way back on them.

For dinner tonight I have made a beef stir-fry. As I did not have quinoa on hand I substituted it with rice. You can find the recipe here.

I have also started to practice yoga...again. I have been practicing hot yoga on and off  since I moved to Nova Scotia. So I decided to get back into it tonight with a little at home yoga session and I always feel soo much better and relaxed afterwards.
One of the most relaxing places to be is on the mat.
How do you relax?
